Institute for Understanding Sikhism
Guru Nanak (1469-1539) founded a scientifically and logically sound religion, Sikhism, for the welfare of the mankind. Guru Nanak challenged the ancient philosophy, mythology, and rituals in which people of South Asia were shackled for centuries. Sikhism is based on the philosophy perceived by Guru Nanak that was further strengthened and preached by the Sikh Gurus who succeeded to the House of Nanak. His philosophy is termed as "Nanakian Philosophy", which is embodied in the Gurbani, incorporated in the Aad Guru Granth Sahib (AGGS). The irony is that Sikhism has been wrapped in a cocoon woven with mythology and unauthentic writings. Consequently, it was represented as a mythic and ritualistic religion. Abolish the Absurdities, It's OK to believe in both Creation and Evolution
A debate has raged since 1859 pitting the notions of evolution against the notions of creation. Contributing much of the heat, but none of the light, are two dogmatic absurdities: (1) Evolution disproves creation; and (2) creation disproves evolution. Although these absurdities once divided people into two mutually exclusive groups, it is no longer the case. There is an ever growing number of people who believe in both creation and evolution. Furthermore, many who hold one notion, but not the other, have become secure enough in their beliefs that they do not participate in the strife. Staunch advocates remain on each side who do not like the way the middle ground has opened. Nevertheless, if the trend continues, the perception of a conflict between creation and evolution may someday disappear. We should hasten that day by abolishing the absurdities. The thesis of the book is: Evolution does not disprove Creation; Creation does not disprove Evolu tion.

Christian Literary Studies Group (CLSG)
The CLSG aims to explore some implications of the Christian faith in the study and teaching of literature. Members have a wide range of interests, from Anglo-Saxon texts to literary theory. The topics are not confined to British or even Anglophone literature, and extend to literary approaches to Biblical studies. Members are academics and teachers, some professional or freelance writers, some are students and others ‘just interested’. Our project is to approach a Christian understanding of literature and of issues current in literary studies, and encourage members in their own writings and readings. Our journal The Glass (lodged with the copyright deposit libraries since 1986) has articles and reviews on a range of literary and theological subjects: Geoffrey Hill, hermeneutics, Jacques Derrida, workshop notes on the construction of sonnets. . . . Members receive CLSG mailings, including notification of conferences and a subscription copy of The Glass. They are welcome to offer papers to be read at the annual Oxford conference in November, as well as articles and reviews for publication in The Glass and on the CLSG website. There is an e-list for members and others to receive notices about the CLSG and matters relating to Christianity and literature.
