The Swords Into Plowshares Peace Center of Kalamazoo is a collectively student run resource center and hub for student activism and social change. We have an office at Western Michigan University for students to drop in and learn about current progressive social justice movement in Kalamazoo. We also offer workshops, trainings, voter registration drives, alternative news/independent media programs, and Kalamazoo's Activit's Library.

GesherCity
GesherCity provides newcomers and established residents a variety of options for building Jewish life. Whatever your level of Jewish interaction, from orthodox observance to “nothing since my bar mitzvah,” GesherCity offers a virtually limitless way to find Jewish community and Jewish life, however you define it. Our website www.GesherCity.org provides a complete community calendar with access to information about various organizations and events, as well as a connection to each other through interest based groups called “Clusters.” A Cluster can be based on anything from walking your dog on Sundays, to social activism groups to a roaming Shabbat dinner in peoples’ homes. The Clusters are an excellent way to meet new people in your community with similar interests and of a similar age. Your community doesn’t have a Cluster that interests you? Start one! Do you have about 4-6 hours a month to plan one event? You can create a Cluster for virtually any interest.
